This study provides evidence-based recommendations for the pharmacologic management of acute dental pain after both simple and surgical tooth extractions, as well as for temporary relief of toothache associated with pulp and periapical diseases in adolescents, adults, and older adults. By identifying optimal pharmacologic strategies, we aim to enhance pain control and improve patient outcomes across diverse age groups.

Postoperative Pain
Adults	Children
Use NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen) alone or with acetaminophen	Use NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen) alone or with acetaminophen
Consider adding low-dose opioids if NSAIDs are inadequate	Consider adding acetaminophen if NSAIDs alone are inadequate
