To honour his vast contribution to medicine spanning over four decades, Dr. Chandy was conferred the National Civilian award- ‘Padma Shri’ and also the prestigious ‘Dr. B.C Roy Award’ by the Medical Council of India.

Prof.Chandy has shown special interests in aplastic anemia, thalassemia, acute leukemia and stem cell transplantation and published more than 170 scientific articles so far."
