Clohex HEAL is a combination of Chlorhexidine Gluconate & Hyaluronic Acid in oral rinse formulation. While Chlorhexidine in Clohex HEAL helps to fight against gingivitis & plaque2 , the Hyaluronic acid in Clohex HEAL helps gum-wound healing through its bacteriostatic3 , anti-inflammatory4 & tissue healing5 properties. The tissue healing property of Hyaluronic Acid in Clohex HEAL helps in stimulation of cell migration, proliferation & differentiation and facilitates angiogenesis5 . While the anti-inflammatory property helps scavenge prostaglandins and other bioactive molecules, the hygroscopic property manages osmotic pressure to remove extracellular fluid4 . Hyaluronic Acid has the most significant bacteriostatic effect, especially on aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, prevotella oris, and staphylococcus aureus strains, which are mainly found in gingival lesions and periodontal wounds3 . Hyaluronic Acid use during surgical therapy may reduce the bacterial contamination, thus, reducing the risk of post-surgical infection and promoting more predictable regeneration.
