CKD: Chronic kidney disease; Hb: Hemoglobin; LVEDV: Heart Left Ventricle End-Diastolic Volume
Methods
- Single-center, retrospective, observational study
- 100 stage IV CKD patients were selected.
Results
- Darbepoetin Alfa was significantly more effective in increasing Hb levels after 3*, 6*, 9**, and 12** months compared to Epoetin Alfa.
- Darbepoetin Alfa induced a stronger reduction in LVEDV (reductions: 7.57% with Darbepoetin Alfa therapy compared to 4.96% after 12 months of Epoetin Alfa).
Conclusion
- Darbepoetin alfa appeared effective in anemia correction and seemed to improve cardiovascular performance in a significantly higher proportion than Epoetin Alfa.
